For the first time all season, Nolo’s Locos looked human.

After rolling through the regular season undefeated and dispatching Birds of a Feather Drink Together in the quarterfinals, the No. 1 seed saw its championship run come to a sudden halt Tuesday night in a lopsided 10–2 semifinal defeat to the No. 4 seed, Wheelie Good Cheese.

The warning signs appeared early.

Despite jumping out to a quick 1–0 lead, the Locos never found a rhythm after the opening exchange. Wheelie Good Cheese answered immediately in the next round to tie the match at 1–1, and from there, momentum completely flipped.

It was all downhill after that.

Coming off a multi-week break between matches, the Locos appeared noticeably cold from the start, struggling to find the touch and consistency that had defined their undefeated season. Shots that normally settled perfectly drifted wide, opportunities slipped away, and the energy that had fueled their quarterfinal performance never fully materialized.

Meanwhile, Wheelie Good Cheese looked sharp from the opening whistle and only grew more confident as the match progressed. Once they seized control, they never gave it back, steadily piling on points while frustrating every attempted Locos comeback.

By the midway point, the tension inside the venue had shifted from anticipation to disbelief. The crowd that entered expecting another deep run from the tournament favorites instead watched the No. 4 seed tighten its grip with every turn.

The final 10–2 scoreline marked the Locos’ first loss of the season—and a surprisingly abrupt ending for a team that had spent months looking like the clear championship favorite.

Even in defeat, the season remains one of the strongest in recent tournament memory. But on this night, after weeks away from competition, the timing, touch, and momentum simply never returned.

And Wheelie Good Cheese made sure there would be no recovery.

The top seed left little doubt.

In a quarterfinal matchup that felt far more dangerous than a typical 1-vs-8, the undefeated No. 1 seed Nolo’s Locos powered past Birds of a Feather Drink Together with a decisive 10–3 victory, punching their ticket to the semifinals and reinforcing why they’ve been the team to beat all season.

On paper, it was a mismatch. In reality, it was anything but.

Birds entered the game battle-tested and already in rhythm, fresh off a play-in win over the 9th-seeded Lady Jocks. Add in their championship pedigree—having taken home the title in 2024—and this was a draw that demanded focus from the opening roll.

Cameras were rolling throughout the match, with Eric Mahn capturing the action on his 8mm camera, preserving every swing of momentum as the crowd stayed fully locked in, sensing the stakes from the opening exchange.

The match began with a brief jolt. After the opening turn from Susan Roe and Griffin Kyger, the top seed found itself trailing 1–0—one of the few moments all night where control wasn’t firmly in their hands.

It didn’t last.

Adam Bertoni and Victoria Hennessey responded immediately with a three-point swing to take a 3–1 lead, flipping both the scoreboard and the energy in the building. Roe and Kyger helped keep things competitive as the score tightened to 3–2, but from there the separation began.

The lead stretched to 4–2, then widened significantly to 7–2 and 9–2 as the top seed steadily pulled away. Birds managed one final point to make it 9–3, but any lingering suspense was quickly erased when Bertoni delivered the closing roll, sealing the 10–3 victory.

The Locos were anchored by Bertoni and Hennessey, who outscored their opponents 7–0 over the course of the match, while Roe and Kyger kept the ship steady, drawing an even 3–3 throughout and preventing any sustained momentum shifts from the opposition.

The crowd was fully engaged throughout, buzzing with the sense that this matchup carried real championship implications. Every point drew a reaction, and as the top seed began to pull away, the energy only intensified.

After the match, Roe captured the confidence building within the team.

“We’re feeling strong,” she said. “It really feels like this is our year.”

If this performance was any indication, it’s hard to argue otherwise.

A late correction has reshaped the playoff picture in the feather bowling league, as officials acknowledged an error in how end-of-season tiebreakers were applied.

In a message sent to teams, league coordinator Zach explained that total points were mistakenly used to separate three teams that finished the regular season with identical 2–4 records. League rules, however, require head-to-head results to serve as the primary tiebreaker in such scenarios.

Once corrected, the updated standings reflected the proper outcomes from those matchups. During the regular season, Severe Feather defeated Birds of a Feather Drink Together, while Good Feathas secured a head-to-head win over Severe Feather. Those results ultimately drove the revised seeding.

The correction leads to two significant playoff changes:
• Birds of a Feather Drink Together now enter the postseason as the No. 8 seed and will face Lady Jocks in the play-in game on Wednesday (4/22) at 6:00 p.m.
• Good Feathas move into the No. 6 seed and will begin their playoff run the following week on Wednesday (4/29) at 8:00 p.m.

Beyond the immediate bracket shifts, the ripple effects could be felt at the top. The top-seeded Nolo’s Locos—fresh off an undefeated regular season—may now be on a collision course with Birds of a Feather Drink Together in the first round. That matchup would present an early test, as Birds of a Feather Drink Together have championship pedigree, having captured the league title as recently as 2024.

While the adjustment comes just days before postseason play begins, teams now have clarity on their paths as the league heads into what promises to be a competitive feather bowling playoff slate.

The road to the Pryes Feather Bowling title now runs through Nolo’s Locos—and they’ve earned every bit of it.

Nolo’s Locos officially locked up the No. 1 seed after a flawless 6–0 regular season, separating themselves clearly from the rest of the field. Their reward is a first-round matchup on Wednesday, April 22 at 7:00 PM against the winner of the play-in game between No. 8 Good Feathas (2–4) and No. 9 Lady Jocks (1–5).

While the Locos headline the bracket, the rest of the field brings plenty of intrigue.

No. 2 Poultry Bowlers (5–1) were the closest challengers all season and will open against No. 7 Severe Feather (2–4). The middle seeds are tightly bunched, with No. 3 The Wobbles, No. 4 Wheelie Good Cheese, and No. 5 Feathers + Fire being separated by tiebreakers, after all finishing 3-3. Wheelie Good Cheese and Feathers + Fire meet in the 4 vs. 5 matchup, while The Wobbles face No. 6 Birds of a Feather, a team capable of outperforming its record.

On the top side of the bracket, the Locos’ first-round winner will advance to face the winner of the 4–5 game in the May 13 semifinal. The bottom half follows a similar path, with the 2–7 and 3–6 winners meeting to determine the other championship finalist.

Placement games will round out the schedule, including matchups for 3rd, 5th, and 7th place, before the championship on May 27 at 7:00 PM.

Undefeated seasons don’t come easy, and Nolo’s Locos haven’t just been winning—they’ve been setting the standard. Now the question is simple: can anyone in this tightly packed field slow them down when it matters most?

In a commanding performance, Nolo’s Locos rolled to a decisive 10–2 victory over the Lady Jocks in feather bowling action, capping off a perfect regular season and securing the top seed heading into the playoffs.

The Locos wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a staggering 9–0 lead that left little doubt about the outcome. The early surge was fueled by standout play from anchors Adam Bertoni and Victoria Hennessey, who delivered three-points in each of their first two rounds, setting the tone with precision and consistency.

At the opposite end, Suf Hayes and Griffin Kyger provided steady support, maintaining pressure and ensuring the Lady Jocks never found a path back into the match. Their balanced play helped sustain momentum throughout the contest.

Despite a late push that earned the Lady Jocks two points, the outcome was never in jeopardy. The loss drops the Lady Jocks to 1–4 on the season.

With the playoffs looming, the Locos now turn their focus to maintaining their dominant form as the top seed, where they’ll look to carry their unbeaten streak into a championship run.

In a dramatic feather bowling showdown at Pryes Brewing Company, Nolo’s Locos mounted a stunning comeback to defeat Severe Feather 10–9, improving their record to a perfect 5–0 on the season.

Nolo’s Locos found themselves in an early hole, trailing 4–0 after the first three rounds and later falling behind 9–4. But with their backs against the wall, the team delivered when it mattered most. Back-to-back three-point rounds fueled the comeback, swinging the match in their favor and sealing the one-point victory.

The team effort was anchored at both ends of the lane. Susan Roe and Griffin Kyger held down one end, while Victoria Hennessey teamed up with Rachel Pantsari on the other. Pantsari, making her first start of the season, played a key role in the late surge, when she and Victoria got a key three points in the 9th end, to initiate the comeback. Then Susan and Griffin finished things off with another three points in the 10th end. Manager Suf Hayes also played an important role behind the scenes, providing key strategic decisions and steady leadership throughout the match.

With the win, Nolo’s Locos remain unbeaten, while Severe Feather drops to 2–3 after letting a late lead slip away.

Nolo’s Locos will return to Pryes Brewing Company next week for their final regular season matchup, scheduled for Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m.
